Report a Public Right of Way issue

Important information before completing this form

A public right of way is a public footpath, bridleway, restricted byway or byway open to all traffic which are recorded on the Definitive Map maintained by the Council.  If paths are not shown on the Map, then the public may not have a right of access.

Before reporting:

  1. Ensure that the path is recorded as a public right of way by checking the Council's Public Right of Way map.

    The Council does not have jurisdiction over paths which are not recorded public rights of way, so will be unable to action your report.
     
  2. Refer to the Council’s annual maintenance programme.to check whether the Public Right of Way is maintained as part of one of the Council's programmes.
     
  3. Check that you don’t require a different form to report the issue to the Council. If the issue relates to any of the following , you should use the correct form listed and link below:

You can use this form to tell us about the following issues on public rights of way:

  • Obstructions or blockages
  • Overgrown vegetation which is NOT covered by the Council’s annual maintenance programme
  • Surface problems
  • Disrepair to items such as gates, stiles, barriers, bridges
  • Missing signs
  • Temporary / permanent orders
